New Member Monday :: Meet Kirby!

Cleverly contributed by Bec Hem |

Happy Monday Morning, everyone! I'd like to introduce to one of our latest members : Kirby! Kirby is an Aussie living in the UK.  Make sure you head over to her lovely blog and say hello!

What is so fabulous about blogging? First, I've always secretly wanted to be a writer so blogging is perfect for me. Also, I'm a very opinionated person with around 1000 thoughts whizzing through my mind at any given moment. I still write everything in a notebook as I think of it (I never go anywhere without a notebook and a pencil) and a lot of it gets blogged.

Where and when do you blog? Mostly at home on my beloved laptop but I often secretly write blogs at work as well. Don't tell anyone.

What's your blog mainly about? I have more than one blog. One is about cricket, which is my first love (my son and husband come in at #2 and 3 respectively) and then there is this one, which is more general. I think Coffee Addict is actually more representative of me because I write anything and everything on it and sometimes I think it just showcases how nuts I am. I think I probably scare people away with my strange sense of humour, but you have to be yourself, don't you?

Where did you find out about BlogThis? I saw a link on a favourite blog called Over Cups of Coffee by Psych Babbler and I followed it.

Your guilty pleasure? I have so many, but I think my love of 80s pop is probably the most embarrassing. I like to listen to it while I'm jogging (ok - actually walking really fast and "trotting" every now and then). I tell people its beat keeps me motivated and that's the only reason I listen, but that's a lie - I just love "wake me up before you gogo". Remember when we all thought George Michael was straight? Seems so long ago, doesn''t it?

A crazy/funny/beautiful memory from your life? I have some great work stories about some wierd library regulars ... but no, something more personal ... I think it would have to be when my baby girl was born. She was stillborn and also breach. I have the oddest feet; my family have always joked about how funny they look. When my little girl was on her way out, the first thing I saw was her feet and they were little carbon copies of mine. I knew she hadn't made it - they actually induced my labour because she had passed away in my womb - but I couldn't help smiling at her mini-me feet. My family never make fun of my feet anymore.

Travel destination you must, must visit before you die?  New York. I've done a lot of travelling but the US has never really appealed to me, except New York. I think it's all the movies and TV shows set there (I'm a huge Seinfeld fan particularly) - it just looks so lovely (and expensive ...)

Your idea of happiness? Australia winning every Ashes series from 2011 until I die. And beyond would also be nice.
Lifelong ambition? I really want to have my novel published. I've written it but I'm so neurotic about my writing that I am afraid to send it a publisher. Blogging might help that, actually. If people like my blogging style, perhaps I'll feel more confident about showing someone that novel.

(And I couldn't resist a little weather report...) What's the weather like in the UK where you are now?? :) Dark and wet. Not too cold, actually, but we can feel winter peering around the corner at us.

It's good to know more about you Kirby! Can I just say though, referring to you as 'Sid' is so habitual I was almost inclined to think Kirby can't be right! :P

I have lived with "Kirby" for nearly 35 years and I still don't think it can be right - I much prefer Sid. LOL
