Member Monday :: Meet Beth!

Cleverly contributed by Bec Hem |

Fabulous overseas holidays are what dreams are made of! This week we're profiling Beth from Foxy falls For... who's heading over to Europe on a dream holiday as we speak! Lately she has put up some fabulous posts about all-things-Europe, of course as lovely and chic as all her other posts! Why don't you head on over and wish her Bon Voyage!!

What is so fabulous about blogging? Having an infinite creative outlet, being able to draw inspiration from other amazing bloggers, and creating a scrapbook of ideas to take with me throughout life.

How long have you been blogging? Why did you start? I only made my foray into the blogging world in February this year. I had joined an online group of Fat Fighting girls, many of whom were bloggers themselves. I didn’t know such a world existed and was instantly fascinated by all the amazing blog creations out there! So I took a leap into the unknown and fell for something new: blogging at FoxyFallsFor!

Where do you find your blogging inspiration?
Here, there and everywhere! Mostly from the broader blogging world, but also my day-to-day life, hopes and dreams for the future, and the countless magazines that keep stockpiling on my coffee table!

How do you get your blog looking so good??  HTML code, templates, labels, say whaaaat?! I had no idea about any of the design features that come with blogging – so a lot of trialling (and way more errors) brought me to where I am now. I still feel like such an amateur and am constantly tweaking and fine tuning, and browsing more and more blogs to see how the pros do it!

What's your blog mainly about?  As the name suggests, FoxyFallsFor is primarily a blog about all the things I have fallen in love with. It covers the four broad topics of interior decorating/DIY, weight management and cooking, travel and fashion.

Favourite blog you've discovered on Blog This?  I only recently discovered BlogThis through a lovely friend Adalita from Fatty Fin To Skinny Minnie – but have since stumbled upon so many new and creative blogs! Most recently I’ve enjoyed reading Megan’s The Stockport Hotel blog and gushing over Mummy Crafts adorable craftwork!

Travel destination you must, must visit? Well…good timing…I'm about to jet off to EUROPE for a seven week holiday! This has been a dream of mine since I was 12 and started my first French class at high school. I studied French through secondary school and university and have put the entire country on a pedestal ever since. I cannot wait to get over there and see for myself all the amazing and wonderful sites that belong to Europe – and coming home and blogging all about it!

Favourite thing to do on a lazy Sunday? The best Sundays are those spent at home, whipping up an awesome brekkie (my fav meal of the day), lounging around the house in my PJs till well after noon, sprawled over the couch half-watching movies - whilst tapping away on my laptop discovering new and wonderful things to fall for!

What are you passionate about?
The usual suspects: growing and nurturing my love, respecting and enjoying my family, working for a reason I believe in, trying to look at the bigger picture….and often failing miserably!

Blogs of Interest: Working Together

Cleverly contributed by Danielle |

There's days in a bloggers life when things just aren't worth blogging about. Loss of mojo, family circumstances, holidays, internet drop outs and in my case today sickness {blergh}

Sometimes when life gets in the way we forget how much work actually goes into blogging and a site like blog this.

As I sat on the couch this afternoon and asked myself..would they really notice if my post didn't go up this afternoon? Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't. Either way I can't really leave it up to chance, can I.

So today I'd like to send you on a little blog tour, a journey of the people who make blog this work day in and day out. Were all bound together by a love of blogging and we all have an invested interest in this site so why don't you do yourself a favour and pop on over and say hi, you might find a new friend or two waiting to be discovered.

 Talia works behind the blog this news desk. She updates you weekly on what's happening around the Australian blog world. If there's ever something happening on your blog don't forget to drop her a line so she can let everybody know your exciting news.

April sets up the challenge summaries each week and starts the polls rolling so we can all vote for our favourite entries.
Nicky holds the keys to our kingdom updating our member list and making sure all your blogs are on the member list. This is a very big job but she does it so well.

Liss is the heart and soul of our team. Issuing weekly challenges and announcing the winners. Were always on the lookout for new challenges so if you have an idea please feel free to drop her a line.

And last but not least coming together on the blog hunters desk each Sunday is Kate, Mrs P and of course myself..we search the web looking for the hots Aussie blogs to share with the world.

Oh, and how could we forget Bec - she's catching up with you, our lovely members, for Member Monday's... a chance to find out just a little bit more about who's a part of the big family that is Blog This!

Member Monday :: Meet Amy!

Cleverly contributed by Bec Hem |

This week we're profiling Amy from New Adventures in Dreamworld. Her blog, (in her own words) is "more like a diary, less like a newspaper column" - full of lovely words! Head over and have a little read - I especially loved her "The Gift of Life" post. Thanks Amy!

A few sentences about you: I'm a (relatively ) new mum of an almost-8 month old boy and a lucky lady with a gorgeous fiance. I'm also an Aquarian who enjoys movie marathons, home-cooked meals and theme park rides. You know, in case you were wondering.

What is so fabulous about blogging? Blogging is fabulous because of the connections it allows you to forge - whether it be a connection to a sense of self, to other individuals or to a blog community as whole. I love how you can create, whether your creation is poetry, prose, photography, fiction, non-fiction - whatever it may be - and that bloggy creation allows you to speak to others, and for them to speak to you.

How long have you been blogging? Why did you start? I started back in early 2007 ( on a different format and blog to what i have now) at the suggestion of a cyber-friend. Initially I wanted to do it because this friend said they would be interested in reading what I had to say, but gradually my blog became a platform for my personal musings, rather than just opinion pieces. More like a diary, less like a newspaper column.

How do you get your blog looking so good?? Does my blog look good? I cant afford to pay for a professional to set me up a gorgeous, personalised page, but I've found a sweet little background over at the Cutest Blog on the Block. I've made it my own by fiddling with the template, making my own button ( with a little help!) and and adding pictures and text.

Favourite blog you've discovered on Blog This? Definitely Lori from Random Ramblings of a SAHM. She, by turns, brings me to tears with her emotional musings, and slays me with her humour. She's a fellow young mum, which gives us something in common. Plus, she knows magic (however she loses points for once working as a clown. Clowns are scary).

Travel destination you must, must visit?  Well I've already done the top 2 on my list - a trek to Machu Picchu, Peru and a traipse around the temples at Angkor, Cambodia, so the next destination I must visit is Barcelona, Spain. It'll be a long while yet before I get there though!

Favourite thing to do on a lazy Sunday? Read the sunday newspaper, play with my son, and watch a movie with my fiance, snuggled under a blanket. Bliss...

What are you passionate about? The one thing i always come back to when people ask me this question is : blood donation. Its the easiest thing in the world to do, requires almost zero effort on your part aside from getting yourself to the blood bank, yet you can save so many lives. I've been donating every 12 weeks since i was 15 ( i even donated blood at a childrens hospital whilst in Cambodia ) and have only stopped now as breastfeeding mothers aren't allowed. Rest assured that as soon as I'm eligible again, I'll be back at the blood bank trying to make the world a nicer place for others...

Any words of wisdom that you live by? I have a tattoo, in Chinese script, on my left arm that reads " Have faith in yourself ". I guess i'll have to go with that...

Thanks Amy!
